Mission
We, motivated by the deep awareness that the world of Media and communication as the “first areopagus of the modern age” (Redemptoris Missio, No. 37c) and the tremendous impact it has on the people, the Staff of the Office of Commission on Social Communication, commit ourselves to be at the service of the people of the Archdiocese of Mandalay in general and the Christian community in particular through means of Social Communication in order to support Christian living and the service of the Gospel (FABC Meeting, Johor Bahru (1983);
Maintain an active presence of the Church in society especially in the world of media (No. 53. Instrumentum Laboris “on the Means of Social Communication”);
Promote the dissemination of information (Church, interfaith, ecumenical news) within and outside the Archdiocese to Christians and non-Christians alike;
Respond to the issues of the time, faithfully presenting the mind of the Church in order to improve mutual understanding (cf. Communio et Progressio, nos. 174-175);
Provide religious and inspirational tapes, CDs and Christian literatures;
To arrange and provide education and training in Communications
Provide facilities for outdoor sound system in the activities of the Church;
 Provide local programs to Radio Veritas Asia, Burmese Service for broadcast;
Set up and maintain web site for the Catholic Church in Burma;
Publish and distribute the broadcast radio scripts in book form and other relevant electronic media;
Make Research and documentation.

I Strategic Goal of the Pastoral Planning of the Archdiocese of Mandalay

4. Readers would have been also opened enough to take initiatives of having interreligious dialogue starting from the dialogue of life and cooperation in their own localities.
5. And thus mutual understanding and respect, conflict resolution, mediation, peaceful coexistence and cooperation, building up of the harmonious society must have been in place.

Expected Result:
1. Within a year, RVA-BS must have been furnished with the programs of 24- C60 cassette tapes or CDs via postal service or Bearer or equivalent number of programs via Internet.
2. The net profit from the sale of these tapes to RVA and others like above bimonthly magazines, tapes and CDs must have been a substantial help for the continued and proper functioning of the whole Social Communication Office of the Archdiocese of Mandalay. (Operational expenses including the Salary of the Staff).
3. By the year 2010-12, the Center would have been able to send the programs to RVA-BS without charge as contribution from the Catholic Church in Burma (Bungdun Covenent, Indonesia) and
4. RVA-BS in Manila would have been functioning either with one or fewer staff (for administrative and news purposes only).
5. Within the years, the selected scripts of these programs would have been revised, updated for publication.

· Established a UCANEWS BUREAU for Upper Burma comprises of Hakha, Taunggyi,

Lashio, Myitkyina, Mandalay Dioceses;
· Sent one staff for technical training. (Rangoon, September, October) and
· Sent two other staff for seminar on Christian Literature at the Baptist Center, Yangon)
· Inspirational & Scriptural Song composing Competition, September, Mandalay.
· Four young people have been employed in the office of Social Communication’
